- The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has called out the Nigerian police - The organisation said all ' Bail is free' inscriptions should be removed - The CLO chairman said bail is not free anywhere in Nigeria and this should be correcte The 'Bail is free' inscription can be found in almost all Nigerian police stations The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has called out the Nigerian police over the 'Bail is free' inscription present in almost all Nigerian police stations. The CLO called for the immediate removal of the inscription from police stations and law courts, saying that it was misleading. Speaking in Lagos on Tuesday, April 4, the CLO chairman, Mr Ehi Omokhuale said that since bail is obviously not free, the public should be properly informed. "We demand, therefore, that bail fees charged by the police and our law courts for the different offences should be published and the 'Bail is Free' inscription replaced with 'Bail Fees’." Having said that Omokhuale shifted attention to the other security agencies, calling on the state police command, local governments in the state and Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) to curb extortion among their men and agents. He concluded: “Extortion on Lagos roads has become unceasingly unnerving and an eyesore. Police road blocks mounted with sticks, drums tyres and firewood at various odd parts of the city is far from being the standard mode of policing. "The crude operational style sometimes used by LASTMA and Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) personnel, leaves much to be desired and has no place in a modern city structure." Meanwhile, in a message sent to NAIJ.com, a Facebook user, Damola Emily alleged that the police AIG from zone 2 led his men in collaboration with one Mr Ifidion to the area to destroy property belonging to Engr Okunola.CITYGURU.com was recently on the street discussing corruption with Nigerians.
